The Project

Inseparable: Lessons from a Nation Divided is a unique two–part interactive performance for S4–S6 students in Scotland.

Based on real events in recent European history, the play is set in the modern day.

Inseparable reflects on how intolerance and hatred can turn into violence and war, as seen through the eyes of three teenagers.

Inseparable is supported by Remembering Srebrenica Scotland, a charity dedicated to education about the Bosnian genocide. The Gordon Cook Foundation, the project sponsor, is making the performance free for schools in Scotland to access, including workshops and learning resources for teachers.

The project had its first run in September 2023 in West Lothian, Dunfermline, Callander, Falkirk, and Edinburgh schools; over 1000 students have seen the performance and participated in workshop, leaving positive feedback.

The students, and perhaps even some of the teachers, who will take part in this unique theatre programme were not even born during the Bosnian conflict. It’s a privilege to bring the stories of this beautiful county to those in Scotland, and to tell of its painful history

Julie Adair, Chair Remembering Srebrenica Scotland
