Background

Bradford Council approached Collingwood to support their RESPECT Campaign and RESPECT Allyship Programme, an internal culture change project enabling their people to bring their ‘true self’ to work.

The campaign involved an engaging e-learning course, promotional campaign, and the sign-up of staff to become RESPECT Allies

Bradford Council approached Collingwood to support their RESPECT Campaign and RESPECT Allyship Programme, an internal culture change project enabling their people to bring their ‘true self’ to work. The campaign involved an engaging e-learning course, promotional campaign, and the sign-up of staff to become RESPECT Allies 

The Approach

We felt that in order for people to understand and refine their own behaviours at a workplace level, we needed to unpick the subtleties of interpersonal interaction help learners consider the impact of excluding behaviours that they might not recognise at the time. At the heart of our philosophy as a company is using people’s lived experiences as the inspiration for learning. We ran an interactive consultation workshop with a diverse group of staff who shared their experiences in the workplace and identified common behaviours and themes.

Based upon these lived experiences we created anonymised dramatic films representing RESPECT values. Scenarios demonstrated realistic challenging workplace moments that inspire the viewer to consider what’s going wrong, and the cultural changes needed for inclusive interactions. Subsequent films modelled these new empowering approaches and the benefits. The films were carefully integrated with the e-learning programme for a seamless blended learning experience.
