Tell me you haven’t been out getting trashed with those losers again? We got a good team, right? You want to be in that team, right?

Background
As the Covid pandemic started, Smashed LIVE, our educational theatre programme tackling underage drinking in 20 countries, came under significant threat. At a time when youth education was paramount, Collingwood and our sponsors Diageo challenged ourselves to meet this need.
As schools in the UK and around the world embraced digital learning solutions at speed, we reached out to e-learning specialists, We Are Tilt, to work with us to create a digital project that was able to retain blended, interactive learning at its core.

The Approach
This collaboration of inspired storytelling and digital knowhow led to an interactive experience that puts young people at the heart of the action and enables them to interact with the characters, make decisions for them, learning alcohol risks, social influence, and informed choice along the way. Flexibility of use was key, and we wanted the resource to live long after the pandemic. We knew teachers wanted to teach, and siloed individual course completion would not be sustainable.
The result was an immersive course that could be completed independently by students online or in group sessions delivered directly by teachers or facilitators in the classroom. Early versions proved incredibly popular with teachers, and we worked tirelessly to replicate the UK version around the world. Working with local film companies, educational ministries and other stakeholders, Smashed ONLINE’s film content was produced in each country to ensure cultural relevance whilst retaining the same story and learning outcomes.

We have made great use of this superb resource. It has been added to the personal development folder for over 600 11–14 year olds in our school. Lots of great feedback from them, they loved the activities, and the certificate of completion is a lovely addition. Thanks for your support!
