With backgrounds in research, teaching, facilitation, the arts, videography, digital media, marketing and events we can tailor every project uniquely to the needs of our clients, partners and learners. Chris Simes
Chris SimesManaging Director
Chris founded Collingwood Learning in 2009 with Lindsay Richards. With twenty years’ experience of drama-based learning, Chris developed award-winning programmes for Councils, NHS Trusts, DWP, BT, Orange, Barclaycard, and the Army. That experience has led him to develop Collingwood’s unique story-based learning model which he has applied to projects both live and online to worldwide acclaim.

Chris’ passionate advocacy of the approach has led him to become a renowned speaker and educational consultant across the globe, building educational partnerships between business, government, NGO’s and the creative sectors in countries on six continents. Chris is heavily involved with every Collingwood programme, working with clients and the team to develop unique and exciting projects which tell inspiring stories, inspiring change in others.

Lindsay Richards
Lindsay RichardsAccount Director
Lindsay, co-founder of Collingwood has twenty years’ experience of arts-based project management. From managing large-scale theatre-in-education roll outs to one-off conferences, Lindsay applies all of that experience to ensure our projects are expertly organised, delivered, and measured.

Currently working with North Wales Safeguarding Board, Essex County Council, the Smashed Project UK, and Real Safeguarding Stories with Bradford Council, Lindsay is passionate about having great relationships with our clients, backed up with clear objectives, timelines, and outcomes.

Katy May
Katy MayInternational Projects Manager
Katy has extensive experience developing and managing arts education projects, having worked with the Arts Council of Great Britain, Curious Minds, and the Canal & River Trust. Katy joined Collingwood to help grow The Smashed Project around the world.

In that time she has helped the Smashed Project reach 15 countries and is developing Collingwood’s fantastic network of creative and educational organisations around the globe, creating a quality assurance framework which spans cultural and language differences. Katy believes in creating partnerships that last and make a real impact in communities.

James Nicholas
James NicholasScriptwriter and Director
James is Collingwood’s resident writer, director and facilitator. As well as working for Collingwood James still treads the boards as an actor and is a guest lecturer at Manchester University, helping new teachers to inject creativity into the curriculum.

Whether Collingwood’s work involves live theatre with young people,
drama-based training, educational resources or online learning, James has been instrumental in developing our learning methodology. He is passionate about enabling real people’s voices to speak through our work.

Lee WoodDigital Projects Manager
Lee’s experience is firmly rooted in arts and events management, having worked on the Commonwealth Games and with leading arts centres and theatres around the world over the last twenty years. Leading on our Digital Media projects, Lee is bringing Collingwood’s story-telling model to the online world in both education and training fields.

His work has led to the success of the Values Based Recruitment Resource with Health Education England, and he continues to develop the award-winning Real Safeguarding Stories website which has rapidly become a ‘go to’ resource for safeguarding professionals across the UK. Now developing the Smashed Project as an online resource, Lee is driven by a desire to blend traditional learning methods with technology to create sustainability and reach.

Katie BroomheadProject Manager
After graduating in 2017 Katie joined Collingwood that year. Having taught at US summer schools for many years Katie’s innate understanding of teaching and learning has enabled her to embrace our ethos and champion our UK projects.

Katie works across our theatre-in-education projects, specifically North Wales Safeguarding Board, Essex County Council, and the Smashed Project, continuing to build our network of participating schools across the UK.
