Another Year of Road Safety with Collingwood Learning

As another academic year comes to an end, our bookings coordinator Miffy Roper is taking a moment to reflect on what has been an incredibly positive and impactful year for Road Safety at Collingwood Learning.

As another academic year comes to an end, our bookings coordinator Miffy Roper is taking a moment to reflect on what has been an incredibly positive and impactful year for Road Safety at Collingwood Learning.

This year, we have reached thousands of young people across the country, helping them build knowledge and confidence to stay safe on our roads. None of this would have been possible without the support, enthusiasm and commitment from the schools and teachers we’ve had the pleasure of working with.
This year hasn’t just been about delivering projects, it’s been about collaboration with road safety teams across the UK and creating meaningful experiences that stay with young people long after the session ends.

Whether you’ve worked with us for years or joined us more recently, you’ve played a huge part in making this work a success.”

Let’s talk numbers!

This academic year, our road safety projects have been able to reach nearly 46,000 pupils across the country helping young people stay safer on the roads, and we couldn’t have done it without the support from our amazing partners.

We’re proud to have continued our partnership with Safer Essex Roads Partnership delivering Dead End to Year 11 students for the 13th year running, it’s still hitting just as hard, capturing young minds and sparking important conversations. On our 2025 winter tour alone, we visited 44 schools.

The Standing ovation, Teacher Feedback

Not only did Dead End take us to schools in Essex, but Collingwood was also proud to take part in National Road Safety Conference in November 2025, an event where road safety professionals, policy makers, educators and practitioners come together from across the UK. Our Managing Director Chris Simes and Sarah Hammil from Safer Essex Roads Partnership joined the discussion panel and provided their insight and expertise on supporting behaviour change through creative education.
Our team of actors shared a short extract from Dead end, allowing the audience to participate in the forum theatre workshop, enabling them to experience the effective and thought-provoking impact that we bring to your schools.

Building on that success we launched something brand new: Travel Hacks. This exciting project saw our facilitators visit 51 schools across Essex, delivering a dynamic, film led road safety workshop for Year 9 students.
Of course, it didn’t stop there…
Working with West Yorkshire Vision Zero, we took Split Second on the road reaching schools across Kirklees, Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield and Calderdale, with a powerful performance followed by an interactive workshop, we connected with Year 7 Students in 48 schools

I will encourage other young people that have not seen Split Second to make sure they know the dangers of the roads.” – West Yorkshire – Year 7 student.

“Really impressed, the performers were professional and very talented. The workshop dealt with the issue in an engaging way that interested the students” , Teacher feedback.

“I think this is a very professional production and the follow up work embeds the message very well. It is totally age appropriate for Year 7, drawing their attention through a slight but of humour but with a very serious message and promoting lots of thought.”

The impact kept growing. After capturing the attention of Surrey County Council, Split Second expanded into a whole new region, we had the pleasure of working with Surrey RoadSafe to reach 40 schools and continuing to make a real difference to young people’s lives and road safety awareness.

Different Places, One Powerful Impact:

While these projects took place across different regions, the impact is something we all share. We helped thousands of young people gain safer habits and more focused awareness on the roads. With more years like this year, with collaboration, trust and ambition, we can continue to grow, and support even more communities.

Thank You!

To every partner, school, teacher, student, and actor who has been part of this year’s Collingwood chapter, thank you! Your support, energy and commitment are what bring these projects to life and make a lasting difference to young people. The work simply wouldn’t be possible without you and we’re incredibly grateful to be working alongside such passionate people.

We can’t wait to show you what we have in store for 2026-2027. Keep your eyes peeled for new projects and tour dates coming up!
